Happiness

This is the video, "Happiness" from Goldfrapp. I can't stop watching it! It's a take off on a dance sequence in an old movie called "Small Town Girl". I recognized it right away. The song is so catchy too. I really love this group! Bye for now!

Pin cushions for Mother's day

Decided to make some pin cushions out of nut cups, since I have so many. I had pink plastic ones like in the pic above, and paper ones like the one below. I used styrofoam balls covered in fabric, and then added bits of vintage millinery, lace, ric rac, buttons and sequins. I topped the one above with a vintage ballerina cake topper.
The one below, I made into a basket with some vintage chenille stem. These were so fun to make.

These are all listed on Etsy, so check them out if you can. Bye for now!

Well, here is my "bling" for Show and Tell Sunday! Check out Cerri's blog for all the other great bling. I probably don't have as much as some of you, but pins have gotten so expensive! So now I tend to look for earrings since they usually are cheaper. Some of the earrings below are from my mom.
I also have one tiara, a necklace and two bracelets. I had to wait till today to get the pix in sunlight. They rhinestones looks so beautiful in sunlight. Bye for now!

Let's go fly a kite!

Mr. Banks:
With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground
You're a bird in a flight
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite
Oh, oh, oh!Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite!
Bert:
When you send it flyin' up there
All at once you're lighter than air
You can dance on the breeze
Over 'ouses and trees
With your first 'olding tight
To the string of your kite
Londoners:
Oh, oh, oh!Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Let's go fly a kite!
That is one of my favorite songs from Mary Poppins, it always makes me cry to see Mr. Banks finally having fun with his kids. I've never flown a kite, but I could watch one for hours. The picture above is from an old school book about holidays that I found at the thrift store. Below is a cute little beaded basket that I found there too. When I saw it I knew there was someone that it would be perfect for their birthday. I won't say who, they'll just have to wait and see!

Above is a pincushion that I made for my dear friend Jacqui, thought it might cheer her up! Hope she likes it! Bye for now!

Off to the post office!

Finally got some swap items mailed off today! Whew it was so windy here, I probably could have sent them off in a paper airplane! Anyway, the little guy above is my first domino doll. Was quite fun to make, and as you can see, it is done in a spring motif. Hope my swap partner, Orit, like it!
These two atc's are for the mermaid swap, using an old map that I got off of ebay. I used a little netting from a vintage hat too. And of course, they had to have seashell bras!
The last piece is Sabrina's first atc. She used a sea shell too. Well, bye for now!

Today Show and Tell is hankies, and I only have a few. But, what the heck. The two below are my favs. Check out everyone elses hankies here.
Next is my newest doll hat over at Etsy! This little chapeau is done in pink and cream. The base for this hat was like a criss-cross diamond shapes. I let the points of those peek out and added little flowers to the tips of the points. Hope you like it! Bye for now!

Think Big (or else)

This is a collage that I did for my hubby for Xmas, to hang in his office for ispiration. He wanted something that had the phrase "think big or else" so this is what I came up with. I just realized that I had never taken a pic of it, so I took care of that.
I found the elephant in an old children's dictionary. Isn't he fun? Bye for now!

Next are the bride and groom I got for a wedding present.
Last is my doll from when I was a little girl, a little worn, but still such a sweet face. Have some other dolls I already showed on a previous posts here and here. Hope you like these little dolls and thanks for stopping by. Can't wait to see everyone elses! Bye for now!

News about Etsy and Ebay!

My first bit of news is that I have a new collage on Etsy called "Hope Springs Eternal". I found a photo postcard at the thrift store and couldn't wait to play with it. This is what I came up with.
Next, I also have this little doll hat I made, that I showed you on a past blog. Finally decided to try and sell it. If it does, will try and make some more.
Also, on Etsy, I lowered the price of the little tooth fairy boxes. Would love to see these go to some sweet toothless children!
Lastly, I moved these two fairies below, from Etsy to Ebay for a 7 day auction. They won't be listed again, so last call on these! Bye for now!

Show and tell sunday

This are pix of my millinery collections; including hats, flowers and feathers. All are vintage. Above is my blue and cream collection.
Next is my pink collection with hat and flowers. Below is the black collection with hats, flowers and feathers. Everything was found at thrift stores, estate sales and antique stores. Hats and vintage flowers are one of my favorite things, they are so feminine. And all about dressing up. But they are so decorative too! I know they are supposed to be kept in hat boxes, but that would be criminal not to be able to view them everyday! Bye for now!

Roadtrip!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! The hubby and I just got back from a major roadtrip to my hometown of Sherwood, North Dakota. We went to get some things from my mom's house. She no longer lives there and really wanted me to get some things that she knew I could use. One of those things was a china cabinet that was part of a dining room set. At first, I wasn't sure it would fit in with my decor, it is rather mid century modern. But, I knew it was too good to pass up. Now I'm so happy I didn't, because check out how great it looks in my dining area!
On the top shelf is the tea set Mom gave me. The next shelf has a milk glass pitcher from Mom, a crystal decanter from our wedding, and some blue transferware pieces. The bottom shelf holds my brown transferware, vases, a milkglass bowl and tureens.
I had lots of fun decorating the top too.
This is a sweet little doll I found in the basement of an antique store in North Dakota. Only $1.50! I will be posting pix of more things from Mom's and the antique store, so till then, bye for now!
