Sabrina is back and New Creative Endeavors!

Finally, my little girl is home from her visit with the grandparents! It seems like she's been gone forever! The same day she came home, we went to get the new kitty, Smoke. Check out pix here! Then, yesterday we took her to Barnes to get a new Berenstein Bear book.
This is my frappuccino, not hers! Check out that mug! Sure is good to have her back!

This picture below is a tease, or a clue of something new that you will see soon on Etsy. Stay tuned!

Lastly, if you're a vintage Barbie lover I have listed this vintage case that I used to play with, on Ebay. Bye for now!

New Member of the Family!

Meet the newest member of our family, Smoky. We adopted him from the animal humane society today, and he's already made himself at home! And he's as sweet as can be! The only problem is he doesn't sit still for long, so I had a hard time taking pix!
I got a couple of good one though, esp. when he was playing with Sabrina. Isn't he the cutest! We are so excited! As you can see he is a grey tiger cat and kind of small. He's just 2 years old. What a great day! Bye for now!

WAYBACK Wednesday!

This week I chose to show something other than a book. These are illustrations from a folder that holds paper dolls. Kiddle paper dolls to be specific.
Aren't they just preciouse!
I have all the paper dolls and their outfits, will have to take pix of those too someday! Bye for now!

A Little Respect!

Erasure is one of my favorite bands of all time and I love this song. When I went to view it on You Tube I found this great acoustic version. It's just as wonderful as the techno version.

Then I found a cover done by Wheatus, I have to admit I'd never heard of them. But I love their version, similar enough to the original, but fresh and new. Hope you enjoy both! Bye for now!

14 years!

Hard to believe, but the hubby and I have been married for 14 years! It was actually about a week ago, but we spent a wonderful day yesterday, celebrating.
We headed to our favorite quaint little antiquing town, Stillwater. We start at one end of the street and work our way to the other end. Then we hit the other side. Usually, when we finish the first leg, we stop at the building above that used to be a Starbucks for a frappuccino. But alas, that one closed up. Bummer!
Here are the fun things I found! Everything but the book I found at a great booth in one store that was all mid century modern and 70's kitch! I was in heaven!

Since Sabrina has been away at the Grandparents, I have been doing a few projects that are easier to do when she is not around. She is always trying to make her doorways fancy and special, so I came up with this idea for both doors. I just used a sheet and valance and tacked them up with thumb tacks so there will be no damage to the door way. On the closet door below I added a hat. I really like how they turned out, I hope she is happy too!

Lastly, here is a video of the song we had sung at our wedding, hope you enjoy! Bye for now!

I got a blog award!

Thanks so much to Diane at Saturday's Finds blog for giving me this award, it's my first! She has a great blog so I'm very flattered!
Here are some blogs I think are lovely!
Check them out! bye for now!

New gnomes in the garden!

Time to welcome some new friends to the garden! These new gnomes are from a land called Target, and I thought they wanted to live indoors. But, they have expressed a need to be among the plants and flowers, so now they have taken up residence in Sabrina's little garden.

I gave them a little garden hut that I hope the stone crop will eventually creep onto, here is one gnome at the front entrance.

The other gnome it checking out the bird cage I am using to protect my new yarrow plant from the groundhog. The gnome assures me he will keep an eye out for garden pests!

This is a shot of our front door, I know, it needs some plants. But I'm not good at container plants.

Here is the robin's nest that was under our deck. It had fallen down, once the babies left the nest. So I just set it on the shelf by our back door.

In the back garden everything is coming in nicely. Above is the walker's low catmint.

This gnome has a butterfly net.

Below is another invention of mine to try and protect some purple coneflower from bunnies and ground hogs. So far, it's working! Bye for now!

WAYBACK Wednesday!

What shall I put in the hole that I did? What a great title right? But then there are the great illustrations by Aliki.

I just love the bright colors, the big heads,

the simple white background.

And, that button tree rocks!

But my favorite part is her wardrobe, those little dresses are adorable.

And it ends with eating, yay! Bye for now!

Rainy day estate sale

Twas a rainy and gloomy day here, but I'm not complaining (well not too much anyway), because we really need the moisture! The only reason my yard and garden look okay, is because we've been watering. I wish we didn't have such a big yard, but that's the way they come in the burbs.
So I had to dress warmly today, it doesn't take much to make me cold these days! Another reason to move to California maybe?
But I needed a red pendant for my vintage bead necklace, so I added a little plastic toy pony and a white bead. I think it's kind of fun and funky!
The estate sale was pretty good, considering it was the second day, so it was picked over. But that also means 50% off everything! So I got 4 vintage albums, 4 vintage books, and to packs of vintage flash cards for $4! Not bad eh? Bye for now!

New for Etsy!

Here are my latest creations for Etsy:
This one is called "Skip to my Lou"

She is the painted version of the pixie I did.

I love the image of a girl jumping rope, so carefree and happy.

Next is a painting called "Painted Pony"

This photo is a bit dark, but I wanted to show the detail.

I've always loved carousel animals.

Both are mixed media originals done in acrylic and colored pencil. I hope you like them.

Please check them out on Etsy, and bye for now!

WAYBACK Wednesday!

Time for wayback Wednesday, hope you enjoyed the video. This week I want to show some pix from one of my favorite books as a kid. It is titled "Cat in the Box"

I was always fascinated with the chair with the green stripes.

And those lovely tall and narrow buildings.

But of course, the cat was my favorite part.

Hope you enjoyed this book, bye for now!
