We Need a Little Christmas!

I am so excited about Christmas this year!
I'm already done with the downstairs decorations.
But, I was looking at the tree and decided it needed a garland.
Something sparkly. But I didn't want to go out and buy one
as I'm trying not to buy anything new unless it's thrifted.
So I came up with using some tinsel stems that I've had for awhile.
I cut them in half and then made loops to form a chain,
just like a paper chain.
Here is how it turned out.
I will take some pix of it on the tree asap!

I also finished decorating our bedrooms.
I wanted a garland above the bed, so I took some silver doilies from the thrift
and made them into snowflakes.
Then I strung them on yarn.
That's it!
Easy Peasy!

We also got our lights out before we got lots of snow and cold.

Of course, one string didn't want to work, but we left it on.

Sometimes they spontaeously come on for no reason I've found.

Then I put another string over the bad ones,

and guess what?

Now half of the old string is working!

Works for me!

Love how serene it looks!

Bye for now!

Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving 2010
Originally uploaded by bewitchedmagic
Having a lovely, quiet Thanksgiving with my hubby and little girl. Made a turkey which I haven't done in awhile! Hubby and I aren't much for turkey, but dear daughter requested it. I just got a turkey breast so there wouldn't be to much, and still we have a lot left over! In the end, we found out that she really isn't a turkey person either, so will probably be the last one I make. Ham is much more popular around here.
Also made green bean casserole in the crock pot, which worked beautifully by the way. Then there was mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, and of course pumpkin pie.
I made the cranberry sauce in the crock pot too, but the recipe needs some tweeking, a little too sweet for our taste. Will try it again with less sugar.
Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

The World of Pretty Posh Posies!

Welcome to the world of Pretty Posh Posies! These magical little dolls love to play and pretend they are in the circus. Or they dream of candy castles in the land of the Sugar Mountains. And they are always ready to dress up for a fancy ball or soiree.
Claudette at the ball.........

How do these amazing dolls come to life? The ingredients are paper clay, paint, mohair, felt, vintage fabrics and trimmings, and generous spinklings of glitter and magic posie dust! Each one takes time and patience, but I love creating them all and seeing what they want to be. Of course, they are 100% handmade, and one of a kind.

Below are a few shot of the sculping process to make the arms, legs and heads.

Now I'd like to introduce the first doll of my new Pretty Posh Posies!

Claudette, is the bell of the ball, having been invited to the birthday party of the royal prince of Bon Bon. She has on her best dancing frock, with silver buckles on her shoes and a sparkling silver bracelet. As a final touch she added a large cream colored rose to her hair.

Below you can see her silver bracelet.

And the little silver buckles on her dancing shoes!

Please come back to the Kingdom of Bon Bon,
to meet some more really sweet dolls!
Bye for now!
