Painting for Spring

I've had this coffee table for about 10 years now,
it came as a set with end table and media center,
all in black.
At the time it fit right in with my decor,
but my tastes have changed quite a bit since.
I'm much more into color now,
with white as foundation.
But painting furniture can be problematic,
either you do a lot of prep work
or put up with paint that scratches of over time.
Then I found out about chalk paint, yay!
There is no sanding or priming,
and it really worked well on this piece.
So much so that I plan on doing the end table next!

I added some bright and cozy throws to my boring brown sofa,
and already it feels lighter and brighter!

I also made a new wreath
using the base from my Xmas wreath,
and substituting daffodils I crocheted and
a bit of fabric scrap ribbon to hang.
I also am in the process of crocheting little
yellow flowers for the fairy lights.

Have you added anything springy
to your decor?

Vintage Crafting

Here are a couple of vintage craft books
from my collection that I thought I'd share.
The above pic comes from
"Fun with Felt"
by Jutta Lammer, 1968

Very simple designs as you can see.

Next is a craft book from BHG
from 1966.

I really like the idea of a placemat,
that you can roll up
with the silverware and napkin already in it!

 Love these two rugs!

Hope you enjoyed these,
which is your favorite?

What I'm Working On

I just finished the granny square cover for one
of my kitchen stools.
Now I'm working on a round one for the other stool.
I would like to paint these stools someday,
but have to wait on that for a bit.

Vintage Suitcase Turned into Crochet Bag

I wanted to have a tote to carry around my
current crochet projects,
so I took this vintage vinyl bag
and did a makeover!

One side has a pocket and the other a zippered pocket,
perfect for holding hooks and a scissors.
First I did the pocket side, punching holes along the top edge.

I then did a blanket stitch,

And then did a crochet edging,
which I ended up redoing in white and yellow
to make it more substantial.

Then I glued some pretty fabric to the bottom half
on both sides.

And on the zippered side I glued a strip of pom pom trim.

I love how it turned out,
it makes crocheting even more fun!

Valentine Display

I used the heart doily I crocheted to make a wallhanging
using a sewing hoop,
some pom pom trim and gingham fabric.
I love how the whole display turned out.

Presents and a Supernatural Cake

We got back so late from our outing on Saturday,
that it was dark and we were pretty worn out
by the time we got home.
So...... I didn't get too fancy taking these pics!
Thank goodness I decorated the cake the day before!
Oh, and we are not devil worshipers or anything,
we just love the show "Supernatural",
so I decorated her cake with the "devil's trap" symbol.
I should of removed the paper from underneath
before I took the pix, but oh well.
The candle is one my mom bought for all her grandkids,
it has a countdown on the side from 1 to 21.

Most of her gifts were "Supernatural" related too.
She was a pretty happy camper!
