I'm Still Here

I know I've been bad about blogging, but the summer heat and humidity were making me less energetic. So there wasn't much to blog about.
Now that the weather is a little nicer I'm working on some projects like this cute vintage embroidered girl.

Cleaning and rearranging the studio,

and trying out a new idea for my shop possibly.

We also found a great tapestry for behind my daughter's bed,

and I painted her vanity black.

So I hope to get back in the blogging mode again.
Bye for now!

Antique Store Finds

On our weekend trip we stopped at a couple of antique stores, and I did pretty well. First I found this great 60s papier-mâché piggy bank. Isn't he lovely?

I had one of these as a kid, only it was orange and bigger. No idea what happened to it.

I also found a nifty vintage pattern, hopefully it has all the its pieces as I would love to make this.

And finally, the one that got away. I didn't buy this swiss chalet as the price wasn't right and I already have quite a collection, but I got a pic to reference for my pins.
Bye for now!

Weekend Trip

This weekend we went to pick up our daughter and visit with relatives in southern Minnesota. She'd been staying with Grandma and Grandpa for over a month. We took the scenic river road.

We always love the view of Lake Pepin.

And then we got to Winona where our hotel was, right next to the bluffs.

This one is called Sugar Loaf.

Great Grandma, daughter, hubby, and me

It is always great visiting with everyone and even better seeing our daughter again.
Bye for now!

MOA and IKEA

On Saturday we went to the Mall of America for some shopping and fun.
It had been so long since we'd been there, that there were a lot of
new stores and restaurants. Like the Pizza Studio where we had lunch.
They make you a custom pizza in 2 minutes! We got the Garden Pizza
with mushrooms, red onions, artichoke hearts, zucchini, and olives
on a whole wheat and flaxseed crust. It was amazing!
Will definitely go back!

And the Forever 21 is huge now, about the size of a Walmart.
Will have to bring my daughter there for sure.
She is still out in South Dakota with the grandparents.
Then we went to Ikea to look for a desk for her room.
She does online public school at home, and did so well
last year that we decided to treat her to a bit of a room makeover.
We found the perfect desk thank goodness.
Everyone was looking at it, so we were lucky to get one.

So Sunday I spent putting it together.
It really went together easy,
I couldn't be happier.

We also bought some bookshelves at Target
so now her room is really coming together.

Can't wait for her to get home and check it out!

Now I'd like to find a bulletin board to go behind the desk.
And we'll pick out a new lamp when she gets back.

Bye for now!

What I Wore to Mall of America and IKEA

On Saturday we went to the Mall of America and Ikea.
We hadn't been to the mall in almost a year
so it was fun to see all the new stores and restaurants.
Then we went to Ikea to buy my daughter a new desk
for her room. She goes to public school online
and she has done so well we thought we would treat
her to a new desk.
I wore my hand sewn dress again, but this time with
a different belt. And I added the vintage enamel pin
that I found at that great estate sale.
Dress and belt: made by me
Pin: vintage
Beads and ring: retail and thrift

And here is a little goldfinch hanging out in my garden.
I love how bright and beautiful they are.

Bye for now!

What I've Been Working On

Repainted this vintage vanity that used to be my daughter's desk and will now be makeup table💄❤️ #vintage #furniture #diy #turquoise #yellow
This week I had some more projects to keep me busy,
like painting this vanity that was in Sabrina's room.
She was using it for a desk, but she wanted something
different now. So I'm going to put it in my bedroom.
Therefore I painted it white with turquoise drawers
to match my bedroom decor. Instead of replacing the old hardware,
I decided to make drawer pulls from strips of yellow fabric.
I love how it turned out!

Also, I finally got a new phone, my first smartphone, so I had
to find a case. I bought this clear one with a blue bumper on Amazon.
Then I added a piece of vintage wrapping paper to customize it.
And when I get bored of that paper I can change it out to something else.

Well, it's supposed to be hot an humid here this weekend.
Hope you are having a wonderful summer wherever you are.
Bye for now!

Come Follow Me

I'm now on Instagram!
Yay!

More Red White and Blue

On July 3rd, I wore a new top I made from the same
vintage pattern I used to make my mod floral dress.
But instead, I made it shorter without pockets
and ric rac for trim. The shorts are the same as the
white shorts I wore last week.

Top: hand made by me
Pin and purse: vintage
Shorts: Old Navy
Bracelet: refashioned vintage belt

For the 4th I wore my red bandana skirt and
the white peasant top I made a couple of weeks ago.

Skirt and necklace: vintage
Blouse, purse and belt: made by me
Rings: Old Navy

Hope you had a great weekend,
we went to see the new Terminator movie,
which was pretty good.
Linking to Turning Heads Tuesday
Bye for now!
