Sketches of the Week

This week I was a little lazy with the sketches, but I did manage to get a few done, like the tortoise shell cat above. This was done in watercolor and marker.

I also tried my hand at sketching a Boston Terrier puppy. I'm not as comfortable drawing dogs, but I like how he turned out.

This black cat with the pumpkin was my favorite of the week, sketched in colored pencils.

And I also sketched a calico in colored pencils. Definitely a challenge getting right, but fun to do.

Bye for now!

What I Wore

Each weekend has been a tiny bit cooler, but not much. So I wear tights with a lighter top as a compromise. This new skirt I got as F21 for just $12.90! It's such a versatile color!
Skirt and necklace: F21

Sketches of the Week

My sketches this week are still cat oriented, but there is definitely a Halloween flavor to some of them, like the one above.

The above charcoal sketch was done in less than a minute! Sometimes that happens.

And others times I will spend about an hour, like I did on the one above. Another Halloween one.

What I Wore: Changeable September

Oh, September! How changeable the weather is, and how frustrating it is to plan an outfit! I never know if it will be chilly or warm, humid or dry, windy or calm. It was chilly, but very humid. I had curled my hair to perfection, but as soon as I went out the door to take pix, the curl just died! So I went back inside and curled with a different iron, and lots of hairspray. But by then it was time to get going, so you'll have to take my word for it that my hair looked better. Lol!

Pretty Sketchy

I've been in a creative rut for a while, so I thought maybe I would try something different and start sketching and working with different kinds of media. So I joined a drawing challenge on Instagram called #yayeveryday. I found out about it through Toby of I Like Cats. It has been a great way to push myself, and I am really enjoying it. So I'm showing you some of my artwork so far. Some are done in charcoal like the one above and below.

These two, above and below are acrylic and marker. The one above was done on watercolor paper.
And the one below on bristol board.

Every day of the challenge has a theme, like above was "Kodak moment" and below was "stripes".

I'm having so much fun with this, and I know it will improve my work too. And who knows where it will lead me! If you want to see more, just follow me on Instagram: @happyasalarks or on my Facebook or Twitter accounts. Bye for now!

What I Wore

It was cool enough to wear tights on Saturday, and even though I've worn this dress a million times, this new haircut is making my old clothes look new again! Win, win!

New Pins

Yay! New lapel pins are now in my shop! They are my spin on a skull, bat and ghost, in my simple and modern style. Of course they would be great for Halloween, but wouldn't they be great any time you want something fun on your jacket or purse?

Each pin is made of three layers of felt with a butterfly clasp. And I've added some embroidered touches on each.

As always, you can find them in my Etsy shop! Bye for now!

What I Wore

Today is Labor Day here in the US, so we have a three day weekend. Which means I'm a little behind on every thing! For this outfit I layered a tee under my summer dress, using orange as a nod to fall coming. I think my vintage butterfly pins look just perfect on this dress.
