Inspired by Lebkuchen

For Christmas this year I've been inspired
by my German, Norwegian and French heritage.
One of the German traditions I really love is
Lebkuchen.
Below is a pic of some beautiful lebkuchen cookies
in a German Christmas fair stall.
There are many different variation of the cookie
but I think these hearts are my favorite!

The recipe for Lebkuchen varies, but usually includes
spices such as cardamon, pepper and cinnamon
with honey as the sweetner.
But I thought I might use my mom's gingerbread
recipe and then decorate it like a Lebkuchen.
I did one with an eidelweiss flower.

 And one with handwriting, "noel".

I think they turned out so cute,
I had to get a pic before they were eaten.
Because they were too yummy not to eat!
Bye for now!

They are very good, we made these every Christmas when I was growing up. I'd give you one if I could! :)
