Holiday Decorating

With Easter just around the corner,
I thought I had better show you these cute Easter die cuts
before it's too late!

I got these in a big bag of die cuts I found at an estate sale last fall.
All for $3!
Some are a little faded or torn,
but they are so cute I think!
I'll show you more next week!

Rhinestone Bracelet Makeover

The other day on Etsy, I saw some rhinestone jewelry
that had bean painted bright colors.
I realized I have some jewelry that I hadn't worn in awhile,
so I thought I would try the idea out.
I picked a bracelet that had kind of cloudy rhinestones,
so I wouldn't feel guilty painting over them.
I used some leftover nail polish and just went to town.

I did green on the outer rows and alternated blue and yellow
on the inner row.
I really love how it turned out!
I plan on giving it a coat of clear nail polish later.
And I think I'll do some other pieces of jewelry too!
What do you think?

Thrifty Finds

I'm so excited to show off this great vintage dress I found
at the thrift!
It fits perfect, just needs to be shortened,
( I do a lot of shortening, since I'm only 5' 2").

And, from the same time period,
check out this cool Bobby Sherman record!
The cover alone is so cool!
It folds out, with very bright colors.

Favorite Things

Today I have more of my vintage playing cards
to show you!
The first two sets are some great floral motifs.
I especially like the top ones,
with those hot colors!

The last set are cute little girls.
I think these were done by Betsy Clark,
though there is no signature.
Hope you enjoyed these.

Ribbon Jars DIY

The other day I was trying to think of a new use
for my collection of apothecary jars.
I knew that I could fit spools of ribbon in some of them,
but it was a pain taking them out when I needed them.
So I thought of the straw holders you can buy,
that you pull the lid up and all the straws come up too.
I decided to see if I could replicate that idea.
Here's what I did.
I cut out foam core circles the same size
as the ribbon spools.

Then I cut an x in the middle of the circle
with an exacto knife,
added some glue
and inserted a dowel.
I had to cut down one dowel so it would fit
once it was inside the jar.

After the glue was dry I thread my ribbon spools
onto the dowel, being careful not to overload it.
Then I dropped it into the apothecary jar.
Now when I need a spool,
I can just pull the ribbon holder out of the jar
and take of the spool I want.

I think they look pretty all stacked up!

Favorite Things

More fun vintage playing cards from my collection!
The puppy is adorable,
but the owl is my favorite, of course!

And, I love, love, love the colors
on these psychedelic cards!

This one below reminds me of Peter Max.

These two are so lovely!

Which do you like best?
Bye for now!
