Fall Colors

I thought it was about time to show off some of my favorite photos of fall colors. I never get tired of taking pictures of autumn, I hope you don't get tired of seeing them. The pics above and below are from one of our new paths in my neighborhood.

Love this bright red tree!

Even our crab apple tree is so pretty this time of year. Hope you are having a beautiful fall, ( or spring depending on where you are). Bye for now!

Apple Picking 2016

 Sampling the apples

One of our favorite family traditions is apple picking. Where I grew up in northern North Dakota, we didn't have any apple orchards to go to. So when I had my own family that was something I really wanted to experience. This year we had to go to a different orchard because the u-pick trees at our favorite orchard were damaged by frost last spring. In searching for an alternative, I found that not all orchards offer u-pick, but I found that Deer Lake Orchard does thank goodness. They are actually not far from our regular orchard, so that was nice. It's a bit less fancy, but I liked that fact that it wasn't quite as crowded.

 My daughter picking apples

We ended up picking a huge bag of Sweet 16 apples. At least I think they are Sweet 16, they could also be Harrelson. My only real criticism of this orchard is that they don't give you much guidance as to where the u-pick apples are and which is which. You pay for your bag up front in the store, and then they cashier gave very vague and confusing directions. We ended up wondering around for about 10 mins. before we finally found the u-pick, and then we still weren't sure whether we were picking Sweet 16 or Harrelson! Oh, well, they definitely taste great whatever they are!

We also went back to the shop and purchased a bag of Honeycrisp apples and a jar of jam. Did you know that Honeycrisp apples were actually developed here at the University of Minnesota? They are my daughter's favorite.

Do you ever go apple picking? What is your favorite variety of apple?
Bye for now!

Pumpkin Tutorial Redux

Since fall is just around the corner, I thought I would bring back a fun tutorial I made last year.
These cute little pumpkins made of chenille bumps!

They look so cute on a shelf for fall

or Halloween.

I really hope make a few to add to your holiday decor.
Bye for now!

A Brighter Kitchen

I finally got some more white paint and started painting my kitchen.
I love how it looks so much brighter!
I also finished painting the buffet and I put up the shelves that used to be in my daughter's room.

Now I can change up the displays for every season much easier.

So of course I started with some fun fall vignettes.

Hopefully they can distract me from the hot and humid weather we have been having.
 Fall, where are you?

Bye for now!

Throwback Thursday

This is me as a "dead bride" back in 1981!
I was in college at North Dakota State University.
I'd joined a service organization called Circle K,
and this was our Halloween party.
This was the first time I'd ever done an elaborate face paint,
and I loved it!
Do you love to dress up for Halloween?
Bye for now!

Last of the Fall Colors

So sad to see the golden leaves falling
and blowing away,
but boy did we have a wonderful show this year!

Have you been enjoying fall so far?
Bye for now!

Family Walk

We had our first walk together as a family
in quite awhile.
It was a perfect day for it.

And I brought home a little souvenir.
Bye for now!

Fall Morning

 I love fall mornings!
Watching the school bus head down the street,

 and squirrels gathering food.

Plus there are always beautiful trees
to admire!

Bye for now!

My Favorite Fall Activity

We (me and my girl) took a walk in my favorite park last week
and we took a little side path out of curiosity.
Well, that turned out to be a great decision,
because we ran into a deer!

 And then two more!

Of course, I couldn't stop taking pix of them,
they were so kind to stand still.
I think they are pretty used to seeing people.

Oh, how I love a walk in the fall,
it is one of my favorite things!
Especially when I can do it with
someone I love.
Have you gone on a walk lately?
What is your favorite fall activity?
Bye for now!

Autumn Rain

I know I've been missing this week,
but I had a hubby and daughter
both sick with colds.
My girls is almost well,
but hubby is still not there yet.
I love this wet autumn weather
we are having though.

Just right for making chicken and rice soup,
and lots of baking!

And then at sunset the sun came out
and we got a beautiful rainbow!

 A double rainbow, actually!

Bye for now!
