Embroidering Pockets and More Studio Pics

Here are some pix of embroidery I'm doing
on the pockets of a jumper I'm making.
It's a vintage pattern and
I love how it turned out!
I will be wearing it soon when it gets
a little cooler.
Also, I have a few pix of my studio
that I've never gotten around to posting.

Little Gray Kitten

This week is another of my old books,
"Little Gray Kitten"
illustrated by Jessica Zemsky
I love the loose, frenetic style
so much movement!
Perfect for a story
about a kitten who wants adventure
and excitement!

 Love this cow!

I Made a Purse!

Here are some pix of the purse I made,
that was featured in my post yesterday.
I used the same vintage material that was in the skirt,
combined with a solid med. blue.
And this is the pattern I used.
I made the small version this time.

Even though I would like to try the bigger size,
I was impressed by how much the small purse holds.

 I really love this purse,
and I will be definitely be making some fall versions soon!

Thrift Store Finds

 Thrifting was great last week,
especially this vintage embroidered pillow!
It's got mushrooms,
and it's the perfect colors for my
downstairs living room.
This lovely floral is from a vintage
chair cover.
I love the colors!

Morning Dew and Lilacs

I thought the morning dew was so pretty
the other day,
so I took a pic!
There used to be a path by our house,
but the association tore it up
and planted new grass and lilac bushes.
I like this much better!
 Storm clouds,
bringing rain for our new lilacs.

Reptile Feeding at the Dam

It was a beautiful day last Sunday,
so we checked out the
Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park.

 It was built in 1913
to provide hydroelectric power.

 Now it's used for recreation
and education only.
I got a bit of vertigo looking down
at the foaming water.

There were people fishing everywhere.

But the real reason we went is that
the visitors center
was feeding their reptiles,
and my girl loves reptiles
(especially snakes)!
Here is a map turtle being fed.

Bunny Button

This vintage book is "Bunny Button"
with illustrations by Bernice Meyers.
Such sweet pictures!

I've always loved pictures of someone
tucked up in their beds,
so cozy!

Oh, My Deer!

My daughter love Littlest Pet Shop
and the other day we were at a Marshalls
and she found this set.
She didn't want the mini Blythe
so she gave it to me.
She is pretty cute,
with those red braids!

She looks ready for a walk in the woods
and fall leaves.
And if I can't have the LPS deer,
she does look pretty cute
with this little ceramic fellow!
Bye for now!

Sketches of the Week

Still in a Christmas and winter mood with my art, and still working on my technique with gouache. It's a much trickier medium than I ...
