What I Wore

For Halloween weekend, I went with my favorite color combo, black and white. I haven't worn my moto jacket in awhile, partly cause my daughter is always wanting to wear it!

Here's a shot of the pumpkin my daughter carved, didn't she do a great job?

Sketches of the Week

This week almost all of  my sketches are all done in gouache paint, as I'm trying to improve my skills with that medium. It is actually harder to work with than I thought, but practice make perfect (or better).

I really loved how the one above turned out, cute with a little humor added.

The one above was my interpretation of a scene from the movie "Practical Magic".  I wish it had turned out better, but it isn't horrible.

The last one is colored pencil on black board. Colored pencils are still one of my favorite mediums!
Bye for now!

What I Wore

We had another really warm fall day on Saturday ( lower 60s when the average is 40s and 50s), so I wore my off-white top I wore last summer with a skirt and cardigan that I could take off if I got to warm.
Skirt and top: H&M
Cardigan, purse and tights: Target
Boots: thrifted
Necklaces: Vintage and F21
Rings: H&M and F21

Sketches of the Week

My latest sketches are more practice with gouache paints. Trying different colors and techniques.

Above is my try at a tarot card that I did for a drawing challenge. I was inspired by the Lady of the Lake in King Arthur legend.

I also did a Sharpie drawing of cacti.

And a quick charcoal cartoon, with me and my cat, if we were to switch bodies! Ha! Bye for now!

What I Wore

I finally got the perfect chance to wear my new dress from Forever 21. This is my first A-line shift dress, and I love it! So comfortable and flattering! But my favorite part is the bell sleeves. They are so wonderful!
Dress and feather necklace: F21
Boots, tights, and locket necklace: Target
Purse: thifted

I wasn't too sure about the back at first, but once I had it on and wore it for awhile it didn't bother me at all.

Sketches of the Week

It's been a little while since I posted some of my sketches, so here we go! I've been experimenting more with acrylic paints and dark backgrounds. Above is one of my favorites so far. I'm really loving the decorative look to it.

And I've been in a Fall and Halloween mood as you can see in the picture above and the two below.

The last was painted with my new set of gouache paints! They are so much fun, you will be seeing more and more of these in use! Bye for now!

What I Wore to Stillwater

Every fall we make a trip to Stillwater, Mn to see some fall color and enjoy some antiquing. I was excited to try out my new jacket from H&M. I thought it would go great with my new gold skirt. I added a thrifted vest and blouse.
Jacket: H&M
Skirt: F21
Vest and blouse: thrifted
Tights, boots, necklace and purse: Target
Owl pin: made by me, similar in my shop

Apple Picking 2016

 Sampling the apples

One of our favorite family traditions is apple picking. Where I grew up in northern North Dakota, we didn't have any apple orchards to go to. So when I had my own family that was something I really wanted to experience. This year we had to go to a different orchard because the u-pick trees at our favorite orchard were damaged by frost last spring. In searching for an alternative, I found that not all orchards offer u-pick, but I found that Deer Lake Orchard does thank goodness. They are actually not far from our regular orchard, so that was nice. It's a bit less fancy, but I liked that fact that it wasn't quite as crowded.

 My daughter picking apples

We ended up picking a huge bag of Sweet 16 apples. At least I think they are Sweet 16, they could also be Harrelson. My only real criticism of this orchard is that they don't give you much guidance as to where the u-pick apples are and which is which. You pay for your bag up front in the store, and then they cashier gave very vague and confusing directions. We ended up wondering around for about 10 mins. before we finally found the u-pick, and then we still weren't sure whether we were picking Sweet 16 or Harrelson! Oh, well, they definitely taste great whatever they are!

 Shop with more goodies

We also went back to the shop and purchased a bag of Honeycrisp apples and a jar of jam. Did you know that Honeycrisp apples were actually developed here at the University of Minnesota? They are my daughter's favorite.

Do you ever go apple picking? What is your favorite variety of apple?
Bye for now!

What I Wore for Apple Picking 2016

With the iffy weather lately ( one minute cold, and the next minute hot), I decided to try and layer a bit. I took my grey dress and added my crochet scarf for warmth in the chilly morning. I also wore boots to tramp through the grassy and muddy orchard. By the end of the day I shed the scarf, and wasn't too hot thankfully.

Here I am at the orchard, I'll have more pix of our trip later this week!
