Check out my new banner!

Finally came up with a new banner for my blog!! Yay! I really love it, I've been so into bright colors, mod and groovy florals, and mid century modern childrens book illustrations. I feel like I

have finally come full circle with my art, as this is the type of art that I grew up with. Especially the illustrations of Aliki and J. P. Miller. I will be taking pix of some of my favorite book illustrations in the days to come. One thing I know, is that I've never been more ispired, and I can't seem to stop drawing! Hope you like my latest! Bye for now!

Antiquing we will go!

Finally got to go antiquing on Saturday, it has been awhile. We went up to Anoka, just a few miles from here, but has some great stores! Decided to wear my newest vintage apron, and ended up with a red, white and blue look!
Here are the goodies I found, check out those vintage men's collars. $1 a piece! My favorite find was the sunny yellow vintage raffia purse, LOVE it! I've been looking for one for so long, and this was only $4! Draped over the purse is a lovely long vintage pink bead necklace, for a couple of bucks! And I'm a sucker for vintage patterns, I'm really getting into the ones from the 60's and 70's right now.And check out those pastel cocktail picks! Even the box is cool, it is clear with gold flecks! I couldn't resist the little doll brushes and curlers, such pretty colors. Then we headed to Barnes and Noble for a coffee frappacino. Love looking at magazines! Bye for now!

Spring sniffles and Thrifty fun!

I'm so happy spring is finally on it's way, but with it I've been getting allergy sniffles (and sneezes and itchy nose). Thank goodness for my neti pot, it has really helped a lot! Today was too nice a day to stay in though, so I headed to the thrift store and found this "to die for" apron in red, white and blue! Also, the cute red bead necklace and vintage coin purse!Other vintage finds are blue and white lace, white and green trim and a green bead necklace.

Lastly I found this great skirt for only $2 !!!! Can't wait to wear it! Bye for now!!

"The Birds"

A week or two ago, it was actually a bit spring like (not today as we just got 4" of snow on Thurs.), and I think the ground must have been warming up. Anyway, I was sitting in my studio, when suddenly a black cloud flew over. I looked out of my window, which is level with the ground, and this is what I saw in my back yard. Dozens of black birds pecking at the ground!
Were they finding worms? I still don't know and I'm not even sure what type of birds they were.
After a few minutes on the ground, they all swarmed up and landed on the tree and the playset.
I'd never seen anything like it, and it reminded me of the Alfred Hitchcock movie, "The Birds". Not as creepy as the movie, but still a bit eerie.
They were also lined up on top of the neighbor's roof.
It was really fascinating, and gave me something to look at besides snow and brown and gray! Bye for now!
