Springy things

Just a few springy things to show you, first is a closeup of one of the dishes from the tea set I used for the virtual tea party. The tea set is called Silver Birch by Royal Albert. Second is a shelf that is in my dining room decorated for Easter. The third is some items I found at a thrift store in our area. It was my first time in there actually, and was surprised at what I found. First I found some vintage ribbon and seam binding. Then I found a vintage hat that had some sweet millinery flowers on it. All together it came to just under $5. Will have to try and go there more often! Bye for now!:)

Rainy day fun!

Yesterday was a very rainy day- which was a perfect excuse to make a fort out the dining room table and some sheets! Sabrina had a blast! I also used the time to take pix of my finds at the estate sale I went to last weekend. I bought all of those plastic frames for $4, because it was the last day of the sale and everything was half off. This is really a before pic as they will be transformed with paint, and hopefully turned into some altered art that I can sell. The bottom pic is in my kitchen. I also got that cute little coffee press(or is it a esspresso maker) at the sale for $.50! Even though it is a bit beat up it still has class! Bye for now! :)

Well I didn't get anything on ebay Sunday, because I was busy with a special order for my sweet friend and customer Rosanna in Italy. These are pix of what I made. It was the first time I had ever sent anything to another country! So, I will be on pins and needles till she gets it! If everything goes ok, I will have the postal worker at my post office to thank. He walked me through the whole thing, and I'm pretty sure it should get there ok, cause he is a real stickler for doing things just so! He kind of drives me nuts sometimes! LOL! Today is beautiful here- in the 70's! Of course it will get back to normal soon, which is more like 40's. But it was nice while it lasted. Bye for now!

Bunny fun!!

Well, before I get started, I just want to thank Kari at Artsymama for having the best virtual tea party ever! I had a super time participating and I got to meet lots of other bloggers in the process. Thanks so much to everyone who left a comment, you all said such sweet things!! Anyway, I think that the tea party was like a catalyst for change, because I weather took a turn for the better! In a big way! It got up to 65 degrees here today! The other good news is that I finished altering a bunny that I bought at Target. I saw the idea on some other blogs, such as ohsopretty. It was a lot of fun, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. This is what I like about blogs, you never know what you might discover! Bye for now! :)

Virtual Tea Party

Yay! Today is spring tea party day! I couldn't resist an invitation to Kari's blog tea party, so I pulled out my mother's tea service and cobbled together some cucumber sandwiches and strawberries with sugar. Of course, I had to convince Sabrina to put on a dress, but once she had her pic taken she got into the spirit of things. She even tried the tea, though she wasn't too crazy about it. Wish I could've had some fancy pastries, maybe next time. We had lots of fun and I want to thank Kari for the idea and the invite, it was such neat way to bring in spring! Please go check out her blog and see all the other fun tea parties!

Spring cleaning the studio

Well, I've been planning on cleaning the table of my work space for some time. But of course, I never seemed to get around to it. But the final straw was when I needed to make more paper mache bodies and heads. I just couldn't start doing that until I had a clean space! So as soon as I was done I had to take some pix to celebrate! In the top pic you can see all my little bodies and heads drying on toothpicks stuck into large styrofoam balls that I glued into small buckets. It also shows some pixies in progress. The bottom shows flowers and other bits and pieces sorted by color in boxes, egg cartons, and baskets. I also bought the blue bowls at Target that I saw on Artsymama's blog. They work great for holding ric rac! Will take more pix this afternoon. Bye for now! :)

Pretend it's spring!

Here are two new creations for ebay. Will list them tonight. Hopefully they will bring a little spring into your day! It is still very cold here, but at least most of the snow is gone!!! And, it is supposed to get in the 50's later this week and rain. Now that sounds a little better. Well, have to get back to work, today is laundry day. Oh yay!

Can't wait for spring!

Oh! how I envy the bloggers who already have flowers and spring type weather! The best I can do is some little velvet flowers that I use on my creations. Below that is a fairy that I did for a wonderful customer of mine, Crystal. She is also a customer of my friend Jenny and she is a sweetie. Everyone I have sold to has been so nice, and it is especially nice when they keep coming back to buy more. Then I know that they must really like my creations! It gives my ego such a boost! Anyway, I hope that where ever you live you have some spring flowers to look at, but if not, I hope you enjoy my little bouquet! Now, if only I could get them to smell like the real thing! Bye for now! :)

A little antiquing

What do I do when Sabrina stays with the grandparents? Antique!! Rob and I went to a little town called Buffalo and went to all our favorite spots. My finds include the little number tags, I bought "68" for Rob's birth year and "61" for mine. Next I found what look like thumb tacks with numbers. They turned out to be markers to help keep track of storm window, screens, drawers, etc. And there is a toy muffin tin, two cards of cream baby ric rac, and pink birthday candles. Last, but not least, are two small leather books, with german text. Love small little beat up books, I can't seem to get enough of them! Oh, almost forgot! Underneath it all are four creamware plates. The lady that rang me up said that they were from a church. I love to know the history behind something, and that reminds me of all the breakfasts and suppers I ate at church when I was growing up. Well, back to work, bye for now! :)

Spring feather tree fairies

These are my items for ebay that I will be posting tonight. Not as much as last week, but Sabrina spent the weekend with the grandparents, so my hubby and I were out antiquing. She had lots of fun, because she got to go to Disney princesses on Ice. And I had lots of fun, cause I haven't been out to antique in ages. I will try and take a pic of my finds later. Hope to get some other things finished and on ebay tomorrow night, but we'll see.

My very first paper mache creations

Thought I would take pix of the very first creations I made when I started experimenting with paper mache and crepe paper. I had found a bunch of vintage crepe paper at a charity garage sale event and decided to see what I could do with it. This was about 7 years ago. I wanted to make paper mache dolls and have the whole dress be composed of crepe paper and other vintage items. I really loved fashioning the dress and hats using techniques for working with crepe paper that I had read about in a vintage book. But, they never sold when I listed them on Ebay, and I realized they used a lot of crepe paper. It was going to be hard to find gift boxes for them too. They are pretty big. So that led me to my pixies eventually. There is one other that I couldn't take a pic of, because my mom has it. It has a bunny head, but otherwise is very similar to these. The lady on the bottom is a little bit damaged, as my kitty Tigger nibble on some of the petals- bad kitty! Would love to know what you think of them.

Pixies are contagious!

Just had to show some cute little fairies made by Saffron for her art class. I thought they were so cute and fun. I was so flattered that she was inspired by my creations! Thanks for checking out my blog Saffron!

Spring pixies have arrived

Just had to get a quick entry to let everyone know that I have new pixies and fairies for Spring. I will be listing these tonight on Ebay. Somehow the mountains of snow did not keep me from creating, maybe it was inspite of the snow! Or maybe it was all the spring clothes and Easter decorations I have been checking out. Either way, I'm very happy I finally got something done and ready to sell! Hope you like them!

Snow! Snow! Just look at the Snow!

Well, we really got dumped on this time! But Sabrina is happy because there is no school today. And my hubby, Rob, took the day off to dig out! It will probably take all day to do that, I plan on helping too. This is going to make it hard to get in the spring mood to work on my ornies, it's hard to imagine green grass right now. But, I'm still dreaming and hoping. I took a pic of a display I had up for Valentines of some of my eiffel tower collection. I hope to see the real thing someday. They say spring in Paris is wonderful, just more to dream about! Well, time to get that snow shovel workout! Talk about aerobic!!
