Thrifted Felt

I haven't done much thrifting lately,
but because there are often vintage Christmas
craft kits this time of year,
I have found some really great felt!

Bye for now!

Christmas 2013

We had such a lovely little Christmas here,
peaceful and happy!
 Sabrina got some great presents,
like this cute hat from Grandma and Grandpa,
and this bracelet I crocheted her.
And she got a camera from the Grandparents too!
I got a lovely coat that I'm sure
will be featured in a future outfit post
and some yummy scented Bath and Body from
my girl.
We watched the movie Elf and
munched on Christmas treats!
What could be better!
Bye for now!

A Gingerbread Heart Pin

I was so happy with how
my gingerbread heart ornaments turned out,
that I decided to make brooch versions.
Here is the first,
with gingham, a deer head and an edelweiss flower

You can find it in my shop!

I will be making more, soon.

Chenille Stem Christmas Tree DIY

Hi there! Here is a little tutorial to make
little Christmas trees with
chenille stems and wooden spools.

You'll need green bump chenille stems,
brown chenille stems,
and wooden spools.
Fold the brown stem in half
and twist the ends together.
Cut the green stems into sections of two bumps.

Wind the bump sections around the brown stem.
As you work your way up the stem,
wrap the green piece around an extra time
to make the branches shorter.
By the time you get to the top of the tree
you will be wrapping around about 5 times.

Before you wrap the last branch section around the tree,
cut a separate bump for the top and
wrap the last section around it to hold it in place.

Then you simply insert into a wooden spool!
You can wrap ribbon round the spool if you like,
or you could skip the spool and use them
as adornments on packages.
I also think they would be cute to leave up year round
especially if you leave the spools plain.

 Bye for now!

Frozen

It's been very cold and snowy,
which does make it feel like Christmas is coming.
As long as you can keep warm.

This bunny is headed down the bunny path.
They make this same path in the snow every year.

Smoke is happy because he can hide
under the Christmas tree skirt again.
Cozy!
Bye for now!

Snow Tracks

We've had lots of snow lately,
and while I don't love shoveling it,
I do love looking at all the little tracks I find.
I can tell just where all our rabbits have been!

Gingerbread Ornament in my Shop

I really enjoyed making those gingerbread cookies
that look like Lebkuchen the other day,
so I decided to make some ornaments
for my shop!
I think these would be great for Christmas, Valentines
or all year long!
The first one has a bird, polka dot heart and edelweiss flower.

The second one has edelweiss and a deer with antlers.
Very alpine!
Check out my shop to see more!

Inspired by Lebkuchen

For Christmas this year I've been inspired
by my German, Norwegian and French heritage.
One of the German traditions I really love is
Lebkuchen.
Below is a pic of some beautiful lebkuchen cookies
in a German Christmas fair stall.
There are many different variation of the cookie
but I think these hearts are my favorite!

 source
The recipe for Lebkuchen varies, but usually includes
spices such as cardamon, pepper and cinnamon
with honey as the sweetner.
But I thought I might use my mom's gingerbread
recipe and then decorate it like a Lebkuchen.
I did one with an eidelweiss flower.

 And one with handwriting, "noel".

I think they turned out so cute,
I had to get a pic before they were eaten.
Because they were too yummy not to eat!
Bye for now!
