Embroidered Pillow Kit Finished!

 A little while ago I found this vintage kit

at the thrift store.

I didn't get to it right away,

and in the mean time I found this pillow.

After seeing the colors in it I decided to use 

different colors for my kit pillow.

 Now the colors coordinate with the vintage 

mushroom pillow!

I also made it round,

though I'll admit it's not a perfect circle

Oh, well.

I still love how it turned out!

Blue and Gold

 I really love blue skies and golden leaves.

And contrails sweeping across.

 And looking up through a leafy canopy.

 Or down at a dreamy carpet of gold.

 My shadow self.

 And the texture of wood.

Fall is Arriving

 It might not feel like fall today,

in the 80s!

But this tree by our play area

seems to think otherwise.

 It is half green and half gold.

 And dropping leaves like crazy!

What do I spy in those leaves?

A sweet little fawn.

He's kind of hard to see,

so here he is again.

And here is my little blythe doll 

to keep him company.

The White Bunny

 This vintage book is one from my childhood,

"The White Bunny and His Magic Nose".

Illustrated by Feodor Rojankovsky.

 He can change the color of other animals,

 and himself,

just by wiggling his nose.

I think I would like a blue bunny,

how about you?

Backpack Patch Makeover

 I mentioned in my last post

that my girl got a new purple backpack.

It's a dandy, with lots of room,

but I thought that patch was kind of boring.

 So I made my own version 

using embroidery on felt.

I did a snake (her current fav animal)

on a field of flowers.

She loved it!

 Then I just whip stitched it 

to the original tag.

1st Day of 6th Grade

Today my girl went back to school, 

she's in the 6th Grade! 

This isn't the best pic, 

but she really didn't want me to take one!

She got a new backpack this year,

which I will show you tomorrow,

as I customized it just a bit.
