Shop Update

Just a little update on the latest in my shop.
I have a new sweet little bunting in orange floral and gingham.

And, I brought back my deer pin just in time for fall.
I think it looks especially cute on my crochet infinity scarf.

Please stop by my shop and check them out.

Cardigans and Coats

With the cooler weather I've been looking at my fall and winter wardrobe
and trying to see what I might be lacking.
Of course I'm always seeing coats I love, even if I don't need them.
Like the one above and below from Timeout.http://www.time-out.to/index.php?lang=en

I also love this cardigan of theirs.
Unfortunately, I'm not really an online shopper,
I just prefer to try on my clothes before I buy them.
But I found one in blue at Target this weekend
and it was 20% off with my Cartwheel,
so I brought it home!
Can't wait to try it out this fall,
would like to belt it and maybe wear with skinny jeans
or a plaid skirt.
What are you excited about wearing this fall?

A Walk in the Park

It was such a beautiful day last Thursday that my daughter and I decided to go to our favorite place to walk.

We hadn't been in a while because of the heat, so it was really a treat to get back.
It's so lush this time of year that it often feels like you're walking through a tunnel.

The trees are so tall in places that it's like being in a cathedral.

We stopped a few times to enjoy the view and chatted with an elderly gentleman who is a regular. He rides his bicycle with a carrier full of his little dogs. He said that through the years he has logged over a thousand miles! And he was in the paper too!

We will have to come back more now that the weather is changing, especially when the leaves start turning.
Bye for now!

Looking Forward To September

Summer is almost over and I must admit that I'm looking forward to fall. We just had a couple of cool and rainy days after some really hot weather. I know school kids don't care for September (what with school starting) but I have always loved the way it is still summery but not so hot. And the angle of the sun gives a certain glow to everything.

Last weekend we went to a local mall to cool off, and this one has a beautiful carousel.  We used to ride it when my girl was little. The horses are my favorite part.
We did a lot of window shopping and trying on, but no big purchases. I did find
a pair of jeans at Target later that were actually high waisted! And on sale!

I do like thinking about outfits for fall too, especially boots. I'm always seeing a pair I'd like to have!
For now though, I'll just enjoy the cooler mornings.

And watch the birds with kitty.

What I Wore

It was another really hot weekend so I had to keep the outfit light and comfortable. I know I've worn this white top a lot, but it is so cool and I wanted to see how it would look with my black and white skirt.

Skirt: refashioned from a dress
Top: made by me
Belt: thrifted
Necklace and purse: vintage
Sandals: Target
Bracelets: renaissance festival

I got this bracelet at the renaissance festival many years ago. It makes a lovely tinkling sound that reminds me of my mom. She always wore charm bracelets and I always knew where she was whenever we were out and about.

Something Different in my Shop

I'm so excited to introduce my first bunting for my shop! I really like the size; big enough to hang on the wall or a door but small enough to hang on a shelf or dollhouse.

I chose the brown and yellow colors to transition from summer to fall. A perfect combination of gingham and floral.

It's available right now in my Etsy shop,
and I am already making more!

What I Wore

On Saturday we went to the Mall of America
so our daughter could see all the new stores and renovation.
I decided to pair my red and white gingham top with my white shorts.
Shorts: Old Navy
Top: made by me from vintage pattern
Enamel pin: vintage
Sandals: thrift

And here is my daughter; waiting for our pizza at Pizza Studio. We had to take her there to see if she liked it as much as we did. She gave it a thumbs up!

What I've Been Working On

I know I said I'd be posting more,
but at least I have been pretty busy.
I've been trying my hand at making some mini buntings.
First I made this one in pink and yellow.

I was pretty happy with how it turned out,  but I wanted something a bit more delicate.

So I came up with this bunting in blue and yellow. I love it so much I will be making more for sure!
And the shelf it's hanging from is one of the things I recently painted.

I also started painting this buffet, it will be turquoise and white when I'm done.
Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Bye for now!

What I Wore

It was another hot weekend, so dressing light was in order.
And it was another chance to try out my white peasant top
with another skirt. I love this skirt even more now!
Skirt and blouse: made by me
Belt and bracelet: Dots
Purse and enamel pin: vintage
Sandals: Target

I recently got these sandals at Target for $8 on clearance!
Perfect for hot summer days.
