What I Can't Wait to Wear: This Fall

With Fall right around the corner, I'm starting to get excited to bring out my fall clothes and try them out with new things that I have. What am I most excited to wear again this fall?

1. Plaid Skirts

There is nothing like plaid to make me feel cozy and autumnal. I do have a couple of plaid skirts now, but I would love to add one in a red plaid, or maybe black and white.

2. Over-the-knee Boots

These boots are so versatile and yet very distinctive. I never thought I could wear them, since I have short legs. But once I tried on this pair I knew I was wrong! And I love the faux suede material of these.

3. Ethnic Prints

This skirt I got last year at H&M is a great example of a print that looks fresh and yet timeless. And the colors are perfect for a fall wardrobe.

4. Denim Jeans and Jackets

Denim is never out, and I never get tired of it. All it takes to liven it up is what you mix it with. Above I mixed it with a vintage dress. And of course, I couldn't make it through the transitioning temps of fall without a denim jacket. They go with EVERYTHING!

5. Lace Up Boots

I didn't get these boots till Christmas last year, so I'm dying to wear these boots for fall! They give a little "kick" to any outfit (pardon the pun).

6. Saddle Bag Purses

This saddle bag purse is one I found on clearance a few weeks ago, but it is perfect for fall and winter too. It's just the right size and it's crossbody, so it will be perfect for apple picking or leaf peeping!

So, what are your favorite things to wear in the fall? Are you looking for anything special for your fall wardrobe?

Yellow and Blue

Yellow and blue are definitely my favorite color combo,
it shows up in my decor, in my art and in my clothes.
It reminds me of the sun in the blue sky,
and it never fails to make me feel good.

Sometimes blue can have a bad connotation,
like having the blues. But it also can seem calm
and serene. My mom was fond of blue and green,
and she used blue a lot in her decor.
We even had blue shag carpet when I was a kid.
I don't think I would ever have blue carpet,
but I did grow up with an appreciation for blue!

And I remember yellow being a popular color in the 60s
for fashion. Pretty yellow dresses; sometimes in gingham
and sometimes in a floaty chiffon. But always so pretty!

I dream of painting my walls in my house white to show off the colors.
But I'm also tempted by blue and yellow,

maybe someday!

Butterfly Craft Ideas

Not long ago I crocheted some pretty butterflies using this
and this pattern.
It got me wondering what other butterfly crafts
might be out there. So I headed to Pinterest
and this is what I found.

I'll bet you would never guess that these lovely butterflies are
made of plastic milk jugs! I really want to try this one some time.
They look so real! Head over to Alpha mom for the tutorial.

These clothespin butterflies would make great accents for presents
or fridge magnets. Go to Crafty Morning to see the how to.

This last one is my favorite though, it's just so simple and pretty.
The tutorial is in Japanese, but it is pretty easy to follow
the pictures. Head over to MaMan for the instructions!

Vintage Hankies

The other day I was ironing these vintage hankies
when I realized I'd never taken photos of them,
shame on me!
They are just too pretty!
It's hard to find a good use for them in today's world,
I hung some up in my bedroom clothesline style.
I tend to love the brighter colored ones now,
but most of these were handed down to me by my mom
so there are some more pastel ones too.
The flower basket one above is one of my favs.

 These two are favorites
because they have yellow in them.

And I love how this one is round,
that seems to be rather uncommon for hankies!
Which one is your favorite?

Vintage Crafting

Here are a couple of vintage craft books
from my collection that I thought I'd share.
The above pic comes from
"Fun with Felt"
by Jutta Lammer, 1968

Very simple designs as you can see.

Next is a craft book from BHG
from 1966.

I really like the idea of a placemat,
that you can roll up
with the silverware and napkin already in it!

 Love these two rugs!

Hope you enjoyed these,
which is your favorite?

Mid Century Mod Linen

I realized the other day,
that I have never really taken any good pix
of a lovely vintage linen wall hanging
that I found at the thrift some time ago.
It's such I beauty I had to share!

There is a signature at the bottom,
but I don't know what it says,
does anyone have any ideas?

Natural Beauty

Sometimes I forget how pretty hostas can be
when they bloom!

I was so thrilled to see this pretty goldfinch
on my clothes line,
let alone get a pic of him!

And lastly, a shot of the young bunny
on a cold rainy day.

Bye till Monday!

Watch the Birdie!

One of my favorite things about spring
is when all the birds start coming back.
Like these cedar waxwings, aren't they pretty!
They love our crabapple.
Here a picture of them in my vintage bird book.
Mr. and Mrs. Duck are still pottering around too.

Bye for now!
