Artwork Update

Recently I joined a new challenge on Instagram called #the100dayproject, where you get to pick what your challenge is. So I picked 100 days of flowers (#100daysofflowersbyLaurie). I love flowers, but I feel I can always improve my technique. One of my favorite flowers id daffodils, so I combined them with my other favorite, cats!

Dandilions  are another favorite so I thought I would work them into a surface pattern.

 Snowdrops in a terrarium.

 Cherry blossoms and a bird.

Bunnies and tulips. The last two are on Society6 if you would like to find great cards and gifts for spring, Mother's Day and birthdays!

Artwork Update

Since I didn't get an art update post up last week, I'm going to have a bunch to show you this week!

Cactus! One of my favorite subjects!

And painting women has been another favorite!

But I always end up painting animals too, so how about a pink elephant! I will be adding some of these to my Society6 and Etsy shops soon!

Society6 and Etsy Updates

There are two exciting things I wanted to update you on, well, three really! Recently I was featured on Lindsey's blog, Have Clothes Will Travel. which was so flattering and thrilling. I've been a follower of her blog for some time now, and I hope you will check it out. I mentioned that my Etsy shop is in a state of limbo as I've been trying to decide what I want to do with it. One thing I thought I might do is sell some original art, as at this time it is only possible for me to sell prints on Society6. So I've started with the gouache painting I did of Goldilocks and the Three Bears (above). You will find it listed in my Etsy shop right now! I will be adding more original art asap, so keep checking. And if there is a something that would like to see listed there let me know!

Next, I have listed the Turquoise Cat painting on Society6 so you can get that in print form and more.

Speaking of that,  right now Society6 is offering a sale:

End: Saturday, 3/4 @ 11:59pm PT

Sketch Update and Society6 Sale

Time once again to catch you up on some of my latest paintings. I always have to fit in a cat in one of my drawings of course.

And I'm always working on improving my people painting skills, so I did a little self portrait of me at Barnes and Noble.

I love how this painting of herbs turned out. It was a part of a drawing challenge.

This painting of Alice falling down the rabbit hole is for an art challenge called the Fairy Tale project! Such fun!

Lastly is this fun little teacup painting I did that is now listed in my Society6 shop! And right now Society6 is having a great sale with 15% Off + Free Worldwide Shipping on EVERYTHING when you click on this link!
I hope you take advantage of this wonderful sale as it expires: February 12, 2017 at Midnight Pacific Time.
Bye for now!

Sketches Catch Up

It has been quite awhile since I update you on my sketches! And now that I have a sketch book just for daily sketching, I'm creating a lot to show you. I'm still mainly working with gouache paints and trying to improve.

These cat face turned out to be one of my favorites!

This rooster painting is probably the one that I think turned out the best of all, I'm very happy with the finished product!

I also added the "Warm Mitten" piece at the top to my Society6 shop, so check it out!

Sketches of the Week and The Nutcracker

So I didn't post an outfit of the week on Monday (more about that below), but I did want to get at least one post done before Christmas. So here are my latest sketches. Above and below are my favorites of the last batch, both done in gouache.

The scene below is also in gouache, and I was practicing shadows.

I used a sketching app on my phone to do the little Christmas cat below.

So the reason for no outfit post was that we went to the Nutcracker ballet last Friday night and I fully intended to get a shot of my outfit. But it was snowing like crazy and I was hemming and hawing on what to wear that would be cute and practical. So by the time I was dressed and ready, it was time to go! So the best I can give you is this selfie me an my girl took out in front of the O'Shaunessy Auditorium, in the snow!

I had to borrow the pic below, as you aren't allowed to take any photos. This is the second time we've gone to this particular ballet, and it is just magical. It is all my daughter can talk about. And I must admit, I can't stop thinking about it myself.

We definitely want to go again next year!  Have you ever been to the Nutcracker? Have you seen any other ballets?
