Another box of detash at Kitchy Kool Shop!

Thought I'd better add something new to my vintage goodies store "Kitchy Kool" and here it is:
It's a sweet little vintage box filled with all kinds of goodies. Isn't that little girl on the box cute?

Inside are vintage plastic candle holers, cupcake toppers, ribbon and a "happy birthday" cake topper.

Can't believe school is starting soon, and I guess Smoke wants to get in the act. Sabrina left her top open on her vintage desk and look who dropped in!

Reading, writing and cat scratching! Bye for now!

More Halloween!

Wow! I must really be in the Halloween mood, because I have another update to my Etsy shop!
This is an original painting I did titled,"Hold on to Your Hat" and it features the "little witch". She is flying to the Halloween party, but the winds are mighty rough!
It comes in this beautiful black gothic frame and measures about 5 3/4" by 7".

I hope you check her out on my shop! Lastly, I want to show you my first Halloween magazine of the season. This one is always a favorite! Bye for now!

WAYBACK Wednesday!

Okay, before I get to my vintage illustrations, I wanted to show my new handmade necklaces for Etsy! I am so very excited about them and I hope you will like them too!

The first one is called "Audrey", and this is an original illustration. Audrey is a new character that I came up with, and she is all decked out for Halloween trick or treating. I added a vintage plastic pumpkin from a cupcake pick the the top of the pendant.

Then I attatched the pendant to a vintage black plastic bead necklace.

The next pendant is called "little witch", another little trick or treater that is as cute as a button.
This pendant has two vintage orange paddle wheel beads and a black wooden bead at the top. It is attatched to a necklace I made of black plastic translucent beads and vintage off-white owl beads on black elastic cord.
I really hope you will check this out at my Etsy shop! I will be posting more things for Halloween soon, so stay tuned!

Now for some vintage illustration goodness, Halloween style of course! Check out this box cover for a Halloween costume!

Everything on here is so fun! But my favorites are the devil,

the pumpkin man,

and definitely the owl!!

Isn't it great! Bye for now!

WAYBACK Wednesday!

This week I want to show a book I found at the thrift store a while ago. I just love the bright colors and great art. As far as the artist, the book credits three different illustrators, Richard Foes, Claude Leet, and Ken Smith. But I'm not sure which did the art I've shown here. I love the colors of the house behind this snowman.
Great artwork of a neighborhood of trick or treaters!

Witchy poo.

This ghost is named Georgie!

Love that owl!

Before I go, just wanted to show Sabrina's new way to play with Smoke. She puts him in this doll bed and then pushes him around the basement! He's such a good sport! Bye for now!

Shop Update for Kitchy Kool!

New vintage items for my Kitchy Kool shop!

Check out this fun and funky mug!

It says "One for the Road" and the colors are bright and cheerful!

Next is this sweet Christmas banner/wall hanging that appears to be homemade.

It's made with felt in a red background with white squares.

In each square is an applique with "love" , holly, bird, "joy", "noel" and a candle.

Lastly, I have a wonderful vintage cake carrier made by Kromex. It's actually made up of two lids. The outer one is red and handpainted with flowers.

The second one is a plain aluminum lid. That cake is going to stay fresh!

Hope you can check all these goodies out at my shop. Bye for now!

Random Acts of Flamingos!

I just got this lovely flamingo (actually there are two, I just haven't put the other one out yet) from a super cool flickr friend Richele! I really needed a Roak, cause this was a tense week. They laid off a whole bunch of people at my hubby's place of work, and we were afraid he'd be one of them. But we found out today, that he's still safe! For now anyway. It's just the way it is nowadays, but it doesn't make it any easier. So thanks Richele! I needed that! xoxo
Bye for now!

WAYBACK Wednesday!

Today's selection is one of my childhood books.

It was illustrated by Norma and Dan Garris.

My favorites are the zoo scenes.

Especially this castle below! Is this where the big cats live?

It's a sweet book and I hope you liked it! Bye for now!

Scary Weather and Pancakes

We had a bit of a scare here last night. I was watching the clouds get big and scary through my office window (that's why the pic isn't so great, the screen on the window gives the moire affect) and thought I'd better check the weather. Come to find out that we were under a tornado warning! Yikes! So we all stayed downstairs watching to see if anything touched down, but thankfully nothing happened in our neighborhood! There was some damage in a few areas, but I don't think it was too bad.

Today, I was about to make pancakes with the mix you buy in the box, when I realized that I didn't have enough. Sabrina was so hungry for them, I felt bad. Then I remembered my vintage "Better Homes and Gardens" cookbook, and I thought I would see if it had a recipe, and sure enough it did:

They called them griddle cakes, but same thing. All I changed was I made 1/4 cup of the flour whole wheat, I used skim milk instead of whole and I used veg. oil instead of melted shortening. They turned out great and Sabrina was very happy! Sorry I didn't get a pic, but trust me they were very pretty! Bye for now!

Another New Venture!

Ok, call me crazy, but I decided to open a second Etsy store! This one is all about the great things I find at estate sales and the thrift store. I've been pondering doing this for awhile, I wasn't sure if I wanted to sell these things on my original "Happy as a Lark" shop or not. But I decided it made more sense to have a seperate shop. So I called it "Kitchy Kool" and here is the store banner:
And here are the items I've listed so far:
Like this great little Christmas ornie kit, isn't it fab!
How about this groovy mushroom wall plaque? I really wanted to keep this!

And I decided to sell this snack set, even though I LOVE it!

And isn't this little doggy cute!? woof!
Please stop buy my new shop...
bye for now!

WAYBACK Wednesday!

Today, I have a sweet set of sewing cards that I found at an estate sale. I don't know the illustrator on these, just that they are from Whitman Publishing. This pink telephone is my favorite!

Regal giraffes.

Dutch teapot.

Basket of roses, hope you enjoyed! Bye for now!
