Merry Merry Christmas!

Just a last few Christmas bits and bobs to add, with the big day just about here.
First, a little more Christmas delight with angels in the bedroom.

An early present for the kitty of the house!
A last minute Christmas craft to make the kitty a stocking!

And today was very snowy, full of beauty and sore backs from shoveling!

Hope you have a special day!

WAYBACK Wednesday!

Every Christmas when I was little, Santa came on Christmas Eve, before we went to church.

Santa (aka my dad) would come to the house to deliver the toys before we went to bed,

so we were sent upstairs to await his arrival!

While we waited, someone would read "the night before Christmas" book to us, and

this is the book they read from.

I'm so happy I still have it after all these years.

When he finally arrived "Santa" would greet our mother and ask about the DesLauriers children,

as our eyes got big as saucers and we fought the urge to run downstairs to take a peek.

When he was done, he left with hearty ho! ho! hos! and lots of jingle bells ringing!

So here is the book, hope you enjoy it!
By the way, the illustrator is Florence Sarah Winship.

Here are a few close ups of my favorite art.

I want to live in a pink house!

Bye for now!

And have a very Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas inspiration!

Wow! Christmas is almost here! So I thought I would show off my studio inspiration boards,
done up for Christmas!
First, is a gingerbread style board done in red, white, green and brown.

Here's an elf getting a ride from Rudolf!

This board is done in candy colors!

To the right, is a Christmas craft I made when I was little using plastic lids, tin foil, greeting cards and glitter.

Aren't these little angels sweet?

This angel is my newest find at the thrift store!

It's nice to finally have a place to enjoy my vintage gift tags!
Some of my favorites are shown below.

Hope you enjoyed these!
Bye for now!

Thrift Craft Fun!

Here's a fun Christmas project that I didn't have to buy
any material for!
First, I save cardboard all the time, because it has so many uses.
And I realized we didn't make any gingerbread men when we made molasses cookies.
So, I thought I would use brown cardboard and trace the shape of a gingerbread
man cookie cutter onto it.
I cut out three for this project.
Then I set up the table with all the different glitters, glitter glues, puffy paints, sequins,
and some ric rac in red and white.

Then we just had fun decorating!
Here is mine:
And here is Sabrina's:

And here is the gingerbread girl that we collaberated on:
Sabrina got the idea of painting her nails!

Finally we hung them on the art gallery string I have under the chalkboard in the kitchen.

There are also some snowflakes we made one day.
I love how these turned out, and it was so fun!
Bye for now!

And there's "Mitsy love snow"!
And, "Mitsy love to party"!

Please check them out if you can!
Now, I thought I'd show some fun Christmas Kitcsh that is decorating my house.
I love this little dancing Santa and elf. I had the elf when I was little and it used to wind up and jiggle around!
The record album and card holder were thrifty finds!

Here is a close up of the elf:

And here is a pretty vignette of bristle brush wreaths and candles.
Hope you enjoyed, can't wait for Christmas!
Bye for now!

Crochet Frenzy!

I have been in a crochet frenzy lately!
Partly, because there are so many things I want to try.
And partly, because there are things I am making for Christmas gifts.
Below is a throw that I made from left over yarn to lay on my bed.
I was also hoping that Smoke might like it too, and he does!

Then, I found a pattern for a scarf, that I thought my mother-in-law might like.
It's done in nice jewel tones.

It's really an easy and quick scarf to make.

I'm going to make another one for a gift, that's in blues and greens. So will take a pic as soon as it is done.

Bye for now!

The Good and The Bad

Well, this week had its share of bad things happening, don't they always seem to come in all at once? So first, the bad.
  1. Hubby's new car has transmission problems, so we only have one working car, and now we have to take his in to get it fixed.
  2. Sabrina has a front permanent tooth that is loose, so we had to go to the dentist and have it checked out. ( Good news is that it looks like it won't be a problem!)
  3. A customer wanted a refund on a collectable I sold on Ebay, and it was for $128 that I was going to use for Christmas presents!
  4. My treadmill finally kicked the bucket! It's pretty old, so I knew it was coming, but can't afford to replace it.

Now for the Good Things!

I did sell a couple of things from my Happy as a Lark shop on Etsy! Below is a pic of the packaging I did on a I print I sold. And, I made the little tag out of felt and embroidered the acorn. It was the first time I've ever embroidered and I'm so proud of it!

Then, I got in the mail some lovely little felt handmade vintage ornies! Aren't they sweet!

And, I got started on a scarf that I'm making for a Christmas present!

Of, course we made some Christmas cookies, sour cream sugar cookies to be exact!

And, there was another beautiful sunset.

I have also started doing low impact aerobic and walking in place since my treadmill died, and it's working out just fine. They say that it's good to change your exercise routine now and then, as the body has to work harder.

So, I guess I'll focus on the good, and wish you all a great weekend!

Bye for now!
