Goodbye Christmas, Hello New Year

I took the above pic a couple of weeks ago,
we don't have quite this much snow now.
But we still had a white Christmas.
I never get tired of peeking out the window
to look at the lights on our bushes!
And sometimes when I go to peek
I spot a little visitor too.
Bye for 2012!

A Few More Christmas Crafts

 I was crafting away
right up until Christmas day,
so I'm just now getting these photos up.
I worked on some cute vintage felt santas,
but only finished one.
He looks perfect in my woodsy
red and green tree!

Then I decided I had to make new stockings
for my hubby and daughter.
My girl loves purple
and I had this great vintage yarn tie
so I came up with this!

For my hubby I did red, gold and green.
I love how the poinsettia turned out!

Here they are hanging on the fireplace mantel.
The red and green boot below is a vintage one I
found at the thirft.
That one is for Smoke.

And mine is the one on the left below,
a vintage find from the thrift also.

Bye for now!

Repurposed Christmas Gift Bags

I love to repurpose shopping and gift bags,
but sometimes they have a store name
or damage from bows or tape.
So I decided to use some scraps of wrapping
paper that I saved and some double sided tape
and work some magic.
Here I trimmed the edges with a decorative scissors
and cut strips to go along the side of the bag.
And a wider piece for the front and back.
 I added some ric rac.
And a Christmas tree cutout from a Christmas card
and ta da!
Another great use for scraps of wrapping paper
is to layer it over coordinating solid color paper
when wrapping a gift.
Bye for now!

Vintage Sewing Trim Christmas Trees

I decided to make some Christmas
decorations for my bedroom this year,
using vintage sewing notions.
It was very easy and fast!
I just used a styrofoam cone,
some sewing trim,
pompoms, ric rac
and a milk glass candle holder
for the base.
I wrapped the trim round and round,
pinning as I went.
Added some bits of lace trims
and ric rac.

Glued it to the candle holder
with a glue gun,
and added some vintage Christmas
greenery.
I did the same process on this next one,
except I used strips of fabric instead of trim.
Then I added trim and pom poms
to this vintage Santa that needed a face lift!!
They all looks so cute on my dresser!
Bye for now!

Vintage Christmas Crafts

 These funny little Christmas decorations
were made by me
when I was a kid, at school.
They were made using Christmas cards,
plastic can lids, aluminum foil,
and glitter.

I'm amazed and happy that they've lasted all these years!

Christmas Crafting

Here are some pix of the vintage craft kit
that I finished,
in a place of honor over the fireplace mantel.
It looks great with all my vintage angels.
And I wanted to show better pix
of the countdown calendar I made,
my girl is really having fun
adding the flower loom flowers it each day.
And it was just too darn easy to make,
I love it!
Bye for now!
