Making a Spring Garland

 For spring/Easter, I made a tulip garden to go over my bed.

 It's actually made from paper crowns that I saved

from our Christmas crackers.

You know, those paper crowns that are inside the cracker

with the toy and joke.

Well I realized I could make them into a garland!

 Here is an unfolded crown.

 First, I folded it back up.

 Then I drew a design on it

and cut it out.

 After unfolding it this is what you should get.

 You can leave it as a crown

or you can cut it apart,

and then tape together with a few more crowns,

and now you have a garland!

Amazing Vintage Quilt

 I didn't find a lot at the thrift last week,

but I did find this fabulous quilt!

It does have condition problems,

but I really bought it for the fabric.

 There is lots of calico in this that I could use.

 And mod fabric too!

 It's just a rainbow of florals!

Winter Can Be Beautiful

 The other morning I took some pics

after a fresh coating of snow.

 And I happened to catch a squirrel

making a made dash from tree to tree.

he's right in the middle.

It's full of vintage and new,

toys and handmade.

 The colors are bright and springy,

just what I need this time of year!

is by my daughter.

Thrift Store Finds

 Oh yes, I found some great things

at the thrift!

Some sunny bright stripe and polka dots pillowcases.

A fun vintage mushroom oven mitt.

A vintage cobblers apron,

and vintage owl salt and pepper.

  

 You can't have too many oven mitts!

And, I love the strawberry print of the apron!

 And these owl salt and pepper shakers are from my Valentine pic, 

aren't they sweet!

Cuckoo Clock Brooches

 New in my shop:

Two really sweet cuckoo clock brooches!

One is done with a brown calico 

and a blue bird on top.

The other is a pink calico

with a big flower and a sitting bird.

 And of course, they both look great on a cardi!

What I'm Working On

 Just got this great new 

crocheting magazine 

from the same publisher as Molly Makes.

It inspired me so much,

especially the edging on the pillows!

 So I thought I would try some edging on one of my pins.

Around the House

 I thought I would use my kitchen

bulletin board for a calendar this month.

I just turn over a heart when each day is over.

I may keep doing this every month, we'll see.

 I finally hung up my spool caddy

that I found at an estate sale.

It works beautifully!

 This isn't from around the house, 

but from one of our walks 

in the park.

It was so pretty, 

but I can't wait to see some green again!

Look What's in My Shop

 I recently added some new brooches

to my shop!

They are a product of my love for calico

and folk art.

I really love how bright and cheerful they are!

And they would be great for Valentine's Day 

or any day of the year!

The first one is a pink calico

with a sweet blue bird and vintage posy

 The next one is a fun flower motif

with applique flower trim centers.

 The third is my favorite so far,

with two felt birdies and a sweet 

flower applique trim.

 They look adorable on a cardigan.

I'll have to make one for myself now!
