Since my girl is starting the 8th grade next week,

I thought I'd show some pix of my first day of school.

Of course, we dressed up for that first day!

I loved that dress!

What We Wore

 It was a warm and very muggy day,

so put on my JC Penney dress again 

and added pink and yellow beads, 

navy straw purse and navy sandals.

Unfortunately, I won't be wearing those sandals again 

as the bottom strap broke. Oh well!

I love this tee my girl got at Hot Topic,

"We are all mad here!" 

with the cheshire cat.

Fits this family pretty well!

Flashback Friday

 I've been seeing a lot of late 70's 

and early 80s dresses on some of my fav blogs

(Curtise and Vix),

so I had to see if I could find my old pix

of some of the great dresses I had back in the day.

Above is a dress I wore in 1981,

and was always one of my favorites!

It was  perfect color and so flattering on me.

I wish I still had it!

 Next is a cute dress I had for my class "skip" trip,

my senior year, 1979.

Wish I wasn't slouching in the photo!

Finally is a shot of me on my way to sophmore year in college, 

with my cousin.

I know this isn't a dress, but I always loved that jacket,

and if I could find jeans like that now,

I would definitely wear them!

I do think high waist jeans are making a comeback,

let's hope so!

What I Wore

 My girl wasn't into the photo op today,

so it's just me. 

It was very hot, so I didn't take a lot of pix.

Tee: Old Navy

Skirt, crocheted collar and bracelet: hand made by me

Belt and sandals: thrifted

Repurposed Bookmark Cover

I have this bookmark with cover

that I've had for awhile.

The artwork doesn't really suit me anymore,

so I came up with a way to repurpose it.

Below is the original artwork.

 

I sorted through some of my vintage wrapping paper,

but you could use scrapbook paper or even fabric.

 

Then I used the old bookmark for a guide

and cut out from two different papers.

 

Since I had two sides to show I picked two different papers,

but they could've been the same.

 

Then I added a yarn tassel,

here is an easy way to pull the yarn through

using a crochet hook.

 

 

 So there you have it, 

a nice new bookmark that I can change up

any time I feel like it!
