More toy fun!

Hi! I'm back with more from my second childhood!
First, I got another Moxie Girl doll, called Avery!
Don't you just love her hair and her roller skates?
Those skates are so "old school"!

Next, I made an exciting find at Target,
these super cute erasers!
Most of them are shaped like food and they are puzzles too,
so you can take them apart.

I've seen similar sets at other stores for much more money and these are just as cute!

I especially like the ice cream treats, but the toothbrush set is
adorable too!

Lastly, I got a couple more Yummi land dolls!
The first one went to Sabrina,
and her name is "Lucy Lollipop" with her pet "Piper Peanut Butter".
That pet really smell like peanut butter too!

And, the other one is "Taryn Taffy" with her pet "Bridget Black Licorice".

I love her hair and outfit!

Oh, and before I go, just a note to let you know
that I have this cute little childs or doll suitcase
It's so darn cute, and I hated to part with it!
Bye for now!

Second Childhood

I think I must be going through a second childhood, because I've developed a new
interest (or maybe I should say obsession) with toys!
Especially dolls with big eyes and beautiful hair, like these Yummi Land dolls.
The first one is Betsy Bubblegum with her pet Susie Sprinkles Seal.
They each smell like their name, by the way.
Next is Bailey Banana Bliss and her pet Penny Pineapple Passion.
Love her curly hair!

They each come with a purse that is lip gloss and a brush.
Below is Rachel Raspberry Swirl and her pet Pistachio Polar bear.
Unfortunately they don't make these anymore, but you can get them on Amazon and Ebay.

I'm also getting a kick out of Hello Kitty, not everything, but certain pieces,
such as the pair below!

Peace, Love and Happiness!
And these cute key chains, the one on the left smells like strawberry!
I love things with sweet scents!
Lastly, I love all the Japanese toys out there, like the little guys below.
They are call Cactus Puppies!

Will be showing more soon!
Bye for now!

Thrifty shower curtain!

Sometimes, (most of the time) when I buy something at an estate sale
I'm not really sure what I'll do with it.
Especially sheets.
So when I found this wonderfully bright and sunshiny sheet,
I knew I had to have it
even if I didn't know for sure what it would become.
At first I just laid it on my bed as sort of a coverlet.
But then I realized it would make a perfect shower curtain!

Mostly it was an easy task, it just needed a little be of trimming and hemming on one side,
and I sewed on blue lace bias tape to the top and white to the bottom to add some interest.
The only fly in the ointment was how to hang it!
I don't have a button setting on my mini sewing machine,
and I didn't want to do grommets.
So at first I used clothes pins to attatch it to the shower curtain liner.
Not the best look, but okay.
Then I got new shower curtain rings that are thin metal loops,
and I realized I could attatch large safety pins to the shower curtain
and then to the loops.
They don't really stand out, and it was a really cheap solution!
Bye for now!

Fun Friday!

Today is Fun Friday, because I get to show some fun things I've found and
fun projects I've been working on!
One of the fun things I've found is this cutie petootie pose doll!
She is wearing a rather simple outfit, but I love the colors!
And I adore the head scarf too!

One of the fun projects, is a little vintage shelf that I've had for a while,

but didn't really do anything to it till I put it next to Sabrina's bed

for a night stand.

I painted a mushroom and flower motif on it in pinks and greens,

that I patterned after the motif on these vintage curtains
I found at an estate sale.
They look so cute in her room!

Underneath the curtains I put up some foam letters that she's had
since she was a toddler to use as a sort of bulletin board.
And it spells "cute".

And finally is something else I found at an estate sale,

this cute little wastebasket!

Aren't he flowers just adorable!

Bye for now!

Party Favor Bag Tutorial!

The past couple of weeks I've been getting ready for my daughter's birthday party,
and I wanted to share with you some fun things that I made.
Not wanting to spend a lot of money, I came up with a party favor bag that
I could make out of things I already had.
I used brown paper lunch bags, pipe cleaners, crepe paper streamers, glitter,
and card stock.
The only thing I had to buy was the card stock.

Step 1:
I opened two paper bags, and stuffed one into the other to make one thicker bag.

Step 2:
I marked about 2 to 3 inches down on each corner and cut a slit to that mark.

Step 3:

I folded down each side about half way.

Step 4:
Then I folded down again.

Step 5:
Once they were folded down I stapled them in place.

Step 6:
Then I trimmed the edge of each fold down with a decorative scissors.
You could also use pinking shears too or leave plain.

Step 7:

I punched a hole on the two short sides to make a handle.

Step 8:

I threaded each end of a pipe cleaner through the holes and

curled the tips to keep them in place.

Step 9:
I sewed together two different colors of crepe paper streamer
together ruffling as I went along, and then glued that to the paper bag.

Step 10:
My daughter and I cut out flower shapes in different colors,
glittered them, and glued them together.
I used a flower punch to make the shapes, but you could
easily cut your own.

Step 11:

Then we glued our flowers to the bags, and added the girls

names with glitter glue.

Step 12:

Now all we had to do was add the gifts and some tissue.

We didn't spend much on the gifts either.

Just a little candy, one thing each from the dollar section,

a bracelet that my daughter made,

and a spool doll I made.

( I will show the spool dolls in an upcoming blog.)

I hope you liked this tutorial, we sure had fun making them!
Bye for now!

Strawberry Makeover!

Well, after a day cleaning my office, (which isn't done by the way),
I thought I would share some pix of a new little friend I found on Ebay.
This is a vintage Strawberry Shortcake, that is in pretty good shape,
except that she needed an outfit, and something to tame her hair!

So I got out some felt, scissors, needle and thread and some imagination and,
VOILA!
I like how it turned out, but I would like to try making a hat some day.
I gave her a tour of my play house and she had a nice little tea!

And, I found a friend for her, Blueberry Pie. Stayed tuned for that makeover!

Oh, and of course, Smoke had to say hi from his cozy spot on Sabrina's bed!

Bye for now!
