Roadtrip!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! The hubby and I just got back from a major roadtrip to my hometown of Sherwood, North Dakota. We went to get some things from my mom's house. She no longer lives there and really wanted me to get some things that she knew I could use. One of those things was a china cabinet that was part of a dining room set. At first, I wasn't sure it would fit in with my decor, it is rather mid century modern. But, I knew it was too good to pass up. Now I'm so happy I didn't, because check out how great it looks in my dining area!
On the top shelf is the tea set Mom gave me. The next shelf has a milk glass pitcher from Mom, a crystal decanter from our wedding, and some blue transferware pieces. The bottom shelf holds my brown transferware, vases, a milkglass bowl and tureens.
I had lots of fun decorating the top too.
This is a sweet little doll I found in the basement of an antique store in North Dakota. Only $1.50! I will be posting pix of more things from Mom's and the antique store, so till then, bye for now!

Winter outside but spring inside

Of course, there was the coloring of the eggs. But this year just did a dozen, what with the price of eggs. There is nothing like a bowl of spring colored eggs to get rid of winter blues.
Easter morning the bunny left some goodies, and ate his broccoli too!
He tried to strike a balance between candy and non-candy gifts. They were all things Sabrina really wanted, and one she didn't expect! The bunny happened to find a beautiful "magic" diamond at the thrift store that he know would be perfect for a certain princess.
This is the centerpiece I came up with this year, mostly cream with a few pastels thrown in. Well, bye for now!

Happy Easter!

Just a little Easter greeting to you all! I wanted to show some eggs I made using styrofoam eggs that you wrap with embroidery floss. I found the idea in the Martha Stewart living magazine last year, but never got around to trying it till this year. Had recently found some eggs at an estate sale, and had some floss that my mom had given me. I took it a step further and added ribbon and vintage millinery flowers. They were actually pretty easy, if maybe a bit tedious. You definitely have to have patience wrapping the thread around and around! Hope everyone has a very Happy Easter! Bye for now!

Come to Florence's Spring Tea Party

Since yesterday was the first day of spring, Florence and I decided to have a little spring tea party. And just for this occasion I decided to make her a new spring bonnet.
I used blue and cream crepe paper, vintage millinery flowers, netting and chenille stem. Then I added a cream lace ribbon for her to tie it on. I think she likes it, because she asked me to make more. She also said that the tea was tasty, and we would love to offer you a cup! Hope you're having a spring like day where ever you are. Bye for now!

Easter cookies and a good hair day!

Hope "springs" eternal at my house, waiting for spring weather. In the mean time, we did some baking. Easter cookies that is. Sabrina had Friday off, so we whipped up a batch. I love the little tubes of gel frosting that you can get in Target's dollar section. They are so much fun to use! The next day, we were taking Sabrina to Grandma and Grandpa's to stay overnight. Here I am just finished getting ready, and you know how it is when you just feel like everything turned out right for a change. I'm having a good hair day, and loving my new top and necklace. So I just had to get some pix to document! The shirt and necklace both came from the thrift store, $2 for the shirt and $1.60 for the necklace! Sabrina stepped in and so I got her in one of the pix.
Just saying Hi! and Bye! for now!

Is it spring yet?

While it definitely doesn't look like spring outside, inside I've been decorating with all my spring decorations and it really makes everything brighter! Most are from estate sales and antique stores.
The little chick in the basket is an Easter basket gift from when I was little. He used to wind up and walk.

This is the armoire in Sabrina's room, the hat on the top is from the thrift store. Hope these pix give you a little shot of spring! Bye for now!

Spring has arrived!

Just realized that I forgot to post about my latest creation for Etsy! I'm really not on top of things lately. Just too much to try and remember lately. But, even though it is grey and white and cold outside, that doesn't mean spring can't come to my Etsy shop. This little fairy is named "Spring Romance". She is done in cream and pink and has a touch of pearls and a rhinestone at her feet. Hope she makes you feel springy! Bye for now!

Sabrina's art gallery

Tonight I want to show off a new and exciting talent, my Sabrina! She is very prolific, in fact, she makes more art than me by far! But the drawing above is my new favorite. Check out the flowers and rainbow. We all have spring fever around here something terrible!
This is the Valentine card she made me, it even has a gift card! Hopefully I can use that to get lots of hugs and kisses! Bye for now!

Happy Valentine's Day

I had to do one last Valentine piece to celebrate love, called "Tresor"(which means treasure). This one I'm going to keep in think. I never keep anything for myself. It's actually the first time I have used two fairies together, if I remember right. Will try to do that more in the future.
Today has been a very special day so far. Not only did a I get a wonderful card and gift from my hubby (he picks out the best cards that always seem to fit us perfectly). I also got a wonderful birthday package from Jenny! No, today's not my birthday, but I like getting a birtday gift any old time! Esp. if it's from Jenny! Look how pretty the wrapping!
This is what she gave me, cupcake nutcups, rose shaped soap, a honeycomb birthday decoration, and last but not least, a beautiful cake art sign!!!
Here is the sign on my kitchen wall, behind a valentine decorated feather tree. Doesn't it look perfect there!! Jenny and Aaron, you are the best!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

The wonderful thing about tiggers!

The wonderful thing about Tiggers, is Tiggers are wonderful things! Does anyone remember that song from an old winnie the pooh movie? It has stuck in my mind because I had an albumn of disney songs that I listened to over and over when I was a kid. Anyway, this is my Tigger, being wonderfully lazy! There's nothing like a sleeping kitty! He was sitting next to me on the sofa today as I was working on my laptop. Yesterday he was on the loveseat next to me in a similar position. I made a noise that woke him and this is what I saw:
Too cute! Love him! Bye for now!

Valetine's Day on Etsy

Sunday night is here, and time to contemplate the weekend. Finally had a weekend with a little fun in it. Grandma watched Sabrina, so Rob and I got a chance to go out yesterday. Just lunch at Panera and browsing at Barnes and Noble, but that is one of our favorite things to do. Sometimes, like yesterday, I will buy a couple of magazines. And other time, I just look and soak up the atmosphere. But we alway seem to leave inspired and eager to create. These Valentine fairies were actually made last week and I have them on Etsy right now. The first one is "love", and she has a bit of a jeweled pin her hand.
The second one is "chocolat" and I gave here a pet bird. They are both done in pink, cream and brown. I've really enjoyed working on these valentine fairies, but I have to admit, I'm itching to start on spring! I'm itching for spring period!! Unfortunately, it is supposed to snow tomorrow! So much for thoughts of spring! Bye for now!
